Debbie Dawes joined First Carolina Management, Inc. in May 1985. She has 25 years of experience with the payroll process and Human Resources relating to the hotel industry. Debbie attended Nash Community College and studied Accounting, Business Management, and Human Resource Management.
Debbie is the Plan Administrator for the Group Health and Welfare Plan and the First Carolina Management 401K Plan. She is instrumental in the development of our employee benefit programs, and she oversees the projects from the beginning stages through implementation in the hotels. Debbie is also responsible for the entire payroll process for all First Carolina Management assets.
Debbie and her husband, Gene, have one daughter, Meghan, and make their home in Rocky Mount, NC.
Meet our Administrative Assistant, Carla Windham. Carla obtained her AAS degree in Secretarial Science from Pamlico Community College and immediately began her career with a New Bern, NC, law firm. She later joined a civil engineering firm, also in New Bern, where she worked four years until transferring to the home office in Chapel Hill, NC. It was then that she went back to school at night and obtained an AAS degree in Business Administration. For more than 15 years, she worked in civil engineering as Administrative Assistant to the President and/or Vice President.
After moving to the Rocky Mount area, Carla began work with Pearsall Operating Company in 1987 and transferred over to First Carolina Management, Inc. when it was formed in 1989. She has been employed with the company for over 25 years as its Administrative Assistant providing assistance to the President, Executive Vice President/COO, and Director of Sales and Marketing. Offering support to several parties frequently requires multi-tasking while also serving as the telephone operator and receptionist. Duties include such tasks as preparing contracts, employment advertisements and offer letters, generating correspondence, making travel arrangements, collecting reports weekly for running updates, handling reservations for hotel owners, preparing minutes from owners’ meetings, ordering flowers company wide, and more.
Carla lives in Nashville, North Carolina, with husband Ken where they raised their two sons, Eric and Matthew. Matthew and wife Lori have recently blessed them with their first grandchild, Bonnie Marie.
Susan Jones is Senior Computer Operator and Accountant for First Carolina Management. Susan joined the Pearsall Operating Company, Inc. team in May 1980 and later transferred over to First Carolina Management at its formation in 1989.
With the adoption of computer technology, Pearsall Operating Company hired Susan as its first computer operator. One of Susan’s key roles was to operate and maintain the company’s IBM System 36. Additionally she was responsible for entering all data onto the system including accounts payable, daily sales, payroll, and general ledger entries.
Susan is currently responsible for all accounting duties for several of our managed hotels. This entails handling accounts payable, franchise fees, monthly and quarterly taxes, general ledger entries ,and making sure all pertinent files and information for her respective properties are current. In addition to her accounting duties, Susan assists the IT Manager with resolving computer and email issues while also helping to maintain the corporate office computers and equipment.
Susan and husband Grafton reside in Rocky Mount. They have three daughters, Angela, Pam, and Jennifer, and five grandchildren, Christin, Courtney, Taylor, Kevin, Tyler.
Sandra Fleming joined the First Carolina Management team in September 2003. For the previous 28 years, Sandra worked in the construction and structural steel industry in various accounting positions. She attended Forsyth Technical Institute with studies in accounting.
Sandra is an accountant with First Carolina Management. She is responsible for the daily banking needs of FCM along with maintaining the books for multiple hotels and parent companies. Some of the related duties include accounts payable and receivable, fixed assets, general ledger entries, tax reporting, and bank reconciliations. She works closely with the Accounting Manager to produce monthly P&L’s and financial statements.
Sandra and her husband Rick live in Nashville, North Carolina. They have four children and four grandchildren.
Jeannie Crissman joined First Carolina Management in March 2015. She has over 20 years of experience in accounting and the office administration field. Jeannie graduated from Roanoke-Chowan Community College with an AAS Degree in Business Administration/Accounting. Jeannie has held accounting and office management positions with Perdue Farms and Halifax County Department of Social Services.
Jeannie is an accountant with First Carolina Management. She is involved in all aspects of our accounting department and works closely with other accountants to process monthly financial statements. Her accounting responsibilities include revenue posting, banking, accounts payables and payroll.
Jeannie currently resides in Nashville with her husband, NC Highway Patrol Sgt. Wes, and sons Braxton and Brantley.
