Joseph Niswonger is Vice President of Sales and Marketing with First Carolina Management and has more than 35 years' experience in hospitality management.

Joseph is responsible for reviewing and approving all sales and marketing efforts at each of the First Carolina Management, Inc. hotels. He maintains daily contact with the Director of Operations and Corporate Sales and Marketing Director to evaluate sales effectiveness and to ensure operational follow-through. In addition, he maintains weekly contact with all hotel General Managers and Sales personnel. Joseph is involved in the training and development of each hotel sales department by attending weekly unit revenue meetings, holding monthly progress meetings, and conducting semi-annual company sales meetings. He also works with the Corporate Sales and Marketing Director to assist unit directors in evaluating, organizing and implementing many of their sales and marketing efforts such as sales call trace and follow-up, local chamber and civic involvement, trade-show/expo participation, annual sales blitz, and formulating their quarterly and annual marketing plans.

Previously, Joseph was Director of Operations with sales and marketing over-sight. In this position, he had complete operational responsibilities for all company-managed hotels, both limited and full-service. Some of these duties were: selection approval and training and development of all hotel management, coaching and counseling General Managers in all operational areas, conducting regular audits (Accounts Receivable, Food and Beverage, Revenue Reporting, Cash Controls, etc.), reviewing sales and marketing efforts with hotel sales and marketing staff, and preparing monthly operational and marketing summaries on each hotel for the company's Vice President of Operations.

Prior to taking the Director of Operations position, Joseph held several General Manager positions with First Carolina Management, Inc. He also received the following industry certifications: Certified Hospitality Administrator - August 1990, Cornell Hotel School - Marketing for a Full House, Hampton Inn General Manager Course, Hampton Inn Revenue Management, Hampton Inn Sales I & II, and Holiday Inn General Manager Course, HOLIDEX, HIRO I & II, Holiday Inn Revenue Management.

Joseph is currently an active member of the Nash County Travel and Tourism Council and the Nash County Historical Association.

Joseph and his wife Mary reside in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. They have four children: Jerry, Joseph, Paul, and Michelle.
